This Weeks Picks

THE POPE

Three million Catholics attend World Youth Day Mass!

Here's a beautiful video from Catholic News Service
http://www.catholicvote.org/swim-against-the-current/

The BBC calls it a "sea of people..."
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-23483478  (watch the video.  Just spectacular the view)

NPR has an amazing shot of it.

MSN has a photo of the Pope with a halo!

New York Times..."More than a million"
Really???  More than a million???  Try "More than THREE MILLION!!!"

"WHO AM I TO JUDGE?"

On his return flight, the Pope answered reporters questions for approximately an-hour-and-a-half.
They were all surprised at how relaxed the Pope was, often smiling and laughing.  He didn't dodge a single question (to their surprise...they're so used to politicians), and he was brutally honest with regards to women priests (no!) but a need for women in higher positions; gay priests (forgive and forget..."Who am I to judge?"), and the Vatican Bank ("I don't know what to do").

His words showed love and compassion, but they did not change a single dot or letter of Catholic teaching.  Some "Catholicphobes" still call the Pope a "homophobe."  They can't seem to love someone unless they agree with them on everything.  How sad.  How very sad.  Imagine if I said to someone, "I will love you only if you agree with me"

ANGRY ATHIESTS

It seems like they always have to start a fight with a believer.  The Freedom From Religion Foundation, the notoriously anti-Catholic and bigoted atheist organization, is picking on the Jews this time.  But the Jews are not going to give in and it seems as though the FFRF is starting to get scared.

The Pope Is Coming, the Pope Is Coming...To Brazil.

World Youth Day with Pope Francis

The Pope has arrived in Brazil.  Enormous crowds arrived before him.  World Youth Day is a wonderful time of year to celebrate the universality of our faith.  Newsok.com offered pictures

NPR had no pictures to share (I guess they forgot their camera).

Daily News had lots of nice pictures.

Huffington Post also.

New York Times...silence.

Oh well...some hearts may never change.

JESUS AND THE MEDIA

Liberal Media loves a new book entitled:  "Zealot".  What they have failed to mention is that the author is a devout Muslim.

Morgan Lake's survival story is a dramatic reminder that God is real, miracles are real and the media bias against God and religion is VERY, VERY REAL.

Monday's Selections July 15th, 2013

NOT GUILTY BY JURY.  GUILTY BY MEDIA

Here is a classic example of how the media strokes the flames of intolerance.  Thank God someone is suing NBC for their arrogance and outright disregard for honesty.  Let's see if they broadcast this trial in real time and don't edit portions of it.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/erik-wemple/wp/2013/07/14/zimmerman-lawyer-to-move-asap-against-nbc-news/

And now for another example of media hysteria.  Wendy Davis is being catapulted to national fame by...of course...the liberal media.  She is their Peter Pan and the media is her fairy dust.  The Pro-Choice movement is desperate for a messiah (given the fact that the other one won't stay dead) and Wendy Davis is it.  They are hoping she will raise their movement from the dead.  Let's see.  I guarantee you that she will be running for Governor...and lose.  So she has an important decision to make:  lose big or lose small.

THE HOLY FATHER AND THE DALAI LAMA

This video is hilarious!  Please watch it.  It is not only entertaining, but also very illuminating.  The reporter asks common folks who said what:  the Dalai Lama or the Pope.  They all guessed wrong!!!  Interesting...at the negative stereotyping of the Pope, thanks in part by the media.

LATE HOUR NEWS PICKS

A BROKEN RECORD...AND HEART

When will it ever end?  Another pop star is quickly falling from "grace", and another is on their way.  [Great articles to leave on your teens bed tonight and discuss with them later]

CARS, PRIESTS AND A POPE

Pope Francis recently said:

“It hurts me when I see a priest or a nun with the latest model car, you can’t do this ...A car is necessary to do a lot of work, but please, choose a more humble one. If you like the fancy one, just think about how many children are dying of hunger in the world.”

By the way...the Pope now drives a FORD FOCUS.  And when he traveled around the island of Lampedusa, he used a borrowed 20-year-old fiat.

POPE FRANCIS AND POP STATUS

It's clear the Pope doesn't want any statues of himself made; at least while he can say something about it.

POPE FRANCIS AND MAN OF THE YEAR

Vanity magazine (Italian edition) just named Pope Francis "Man of the Year!"  Some stars, along with Sir Elton John, had some warm words about it.
